    iOS 6, Form 1 and a personal update…

I realise I haven’t made a blog post in a while - I’ve been busy working on Snag List and my day job, as an I.T Consultant in London.

For those of you that don’t already know (who haven’t followed me on LinkedIn, Twitter or Facebook, I currently live in London and work as a mobile developer. London’s great, however after being here for two years I’ve felt that I needed a change of scenery, so I’m packing up and moving to Berlin!

Why Berlin? Well, the start up scene there is great, it’s also a very up and coming city and has been in the news lately about the sheer number of people flocking there. I’ll still be working on Snag List, as it’s something I do in my spare time anyway…It might also be nice to start featuring posts about Berlin in this blog, something I would be keen on doing.

So, following the release of iOS 6 and the removal of Google Maps, Snag List has only suffered one bug, the background on the main page is now black instead of the grey cross hatched image. The fix is already submitted to Apple and should be approved shortly.

I also mentioned before that I’d like to make posts regarding cool technology that’s current, so here is the first post: Form 1.

    http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/formlabs/form-1-an-affordable-professional-3d-printer?ref=live

Form 1 is a beautifully designed 3D printer that’s currently being proposed on Kickstarter, a crowd funding platform which aims to bypass the middle-man or publisher.

What I love about Form 1 is that they’re aiming to bring 3D printing to more people by making it really affordable (including the material used to print). Those of you who are familiar with CAD, Blender, 3DS Max, Maya etc would be able to knock up a model, export it to the Form 1 software and print the object straight away.

You could use it for replacement fittings, miniatures to paint, replacing broken toy parts…

Michael over at Armchair Builder (www.armchairbuilder.com) has created this excellent video tutorial on how to use Snag List.

It’s great to see the construction community using the app and sharing their experiences with it.

Welcome to the Snag List blog and what’s planned for the next release

Hello and welcome to the official blog for Snag List - the iPhone app for making problem and defect lists. My name’s James and I’m the lead developer of Snag List.

I know what you’re thinking, “Not another start-up blog.”, well actually I’d really like this blog to be a bit more than just the iPhone app. I’ve always been passionate about programming, mobile development, startups and technology in general, so I’m taking this opportunity to include all of these topics (and more!).

This blog will be a mixture of Snag List for iPhone, iOS and Objective-C 2.0 development, tools and apps I used to help develop the iPhone app (and ones I find interesting) and the entire journey of releasing an iPhone app on the App Store, its growth and (hopefully) success.

Since releasing the iPhone app we’ve had a huge amount of feedback from you, our brilliant users. You’ve contributed some great suggestions, problems and positive comments already. I’ve always had the mentality that when developing software the best place to start when decided what functionality to fix or add should be with you, the user.

Well, we’ve listened to what you had to say and that’s why we’ve come up with a list of features that will be added to Snag List in the next release:

    • Raise a support ticket from within Snag List
    • Add an item ‘Complete’ column to the report
    • Send report to multiple email addresses
    • Removed ‘Snag’ from table headings
    • ‘Tidied’ up the report layout to be more professional and easier to read.

2012 will be a big year for Snag List and we’re looking forward to adding even more great features for you to use.
